A mosaic exhibition by Rachel of Scandalous Shards featuring eighteen female torsos exploring the impact of name-calling , both playful and derogatory, on women’s identities. Each torso in Name Calling, embodies a label, from Man Eater and Gold Digger to Prick Teaser – exposing the weight of the stereotypes imposed on the female body. None of the figures have faces. Instead, each has a mirror where the face would be – inviting you to step in, see yourself reflected and become part of the artwork. It’s interactive, it's uncomfortable, it’s playful and it’s meant to provoke reflection, reaction and maybe even a photo or two.
Name Calling isn’t a quiet exhibition. It’s a conversation. A confrontation and a celebration of the female form – the weight of words and the power of reclaiming them.
The exhibition is on from the 6th to 13th September 2025 in the Gallery at the George Café in Newnham.
